If your Aastra end point says "Web Recovery" this means that the firmware on the endpoint has become corrupt so the phone has fallen back on it firmware recovery tool. Depending on how your Aastra endpoint's configured use one of the set of steps below to recover your phones firmware.
Aastra Endpoint NO VLAN'S Enabled On PHONE
Use this method if the actual phone does not have VLANS enabled. You LAN can still make use of VLAN's they are just transparent to your Aastra endpoint.
Step 1: Get the phones IP
The phone display will read "Web Recovery" and list an IP address that is the IP address that the phone is using, so take not of it.
Step 2: Login into the phone
Open a web browser an enter in http://<PHONESIP> you will get a screen like the one shown below
Step 3: Enter the firmware settings
Set the "Filename" to one of the following:
- 6730i.st
- 6731i.st
- 57ist
- 55i.st
- 57iCT.st
- 55iCT.st
Set the "Download Protocol" to HTTP
Set the "HTTP Server" to the IP ADDRESS of the Synergy-IPV system
If you are running system software version 2.7 or higher. Set the "HTTP Server" to the IP ADDRESS of the Synergy-IPV system followed by :5185. For example if the system IP was 10.250.0.1 then you would enter 10.250.0.1:5185
Set the "HTTP Path" to "configs" it is case sensitive.
Once the settings are correct hit "Download Firmware" in a few minutes the phone should be back working.
Aastra Endpoint WITH VLAN'S Enabled On PHONE
Use this method if the actual phone has VLANS enabled.
Step 1: Get the phones IP
The phone display will read "Web Recovery" and list an IP address that is the IP address that the phone is using, so take not of it. You'll see that this IP is still within the range of the VLAN but will not be able to be reach via the VLAN. This appears to be an issue with recover software on the phone not respecting VLAN taging configured in the phone when in recovery mode.
Step 2: Configure a PC with a WEB Server
You will need to configure a PC that has a web server on it to the same subnet as the IP the phone is display but DO NOT VLAN this IP on the computer recommend just plunging a laptop into the "PC" phone on the phone. Once you have the IP configured in your laptop ping the phones IP make sure the can see one and other. Enable the web server on your laptop make sure the firewall on it will allow traffic to port 80.
Step 3: Login into the phone
Open a web browser an enter in http://<PHONESIP> you will get a screen like the one shown below
Step 3: Enter the firmware settings
Set the "Filename" to one of the following:
- 6730i.st
- 6731i.st
- 57ist
- 55i.st
- 57iCT.st
- 55iCT.st
You will need to download one of the above firmware to your laptop and install in the path. Check the release notes to see which firmware versions are currently supported by Synergy~IPV before downloading.
Set the "Download Protocol" to HTTP
Set the "HTTP Server" to the IP ADDRESS of your laptop
Set the "HTTP Path" to "configs" it is case sensitive. Make sure this path is created in your laptops Web server root path.
Once the settings are correct hit "Download Firmware" in a few minutes the phone should be back working.
